Reflecting With Rainna Entry 11: Weed Thoughts, Rotten Apples, and Proactive Life Changes!

Hello there! I Am Rainna and I welcome you to reflect with me!

This is a journal style micro-cast where I reflect on family, Faith, and everything in between! .

Date: 2-19-2021

Entry: 11

In this entry I will be talking about Weed thoughts, Rotten apples, and making proactive life changes!

Scripture:

Psalm 26 Of David.

Psalm 26:4-5 – “I have not sat [dwell; inhabit; abide; remain] with vain [deceit; lying; useless] persons [men], neither will I go in [come; go; enter] with dissemblers [concealed; pretenders]. 5 I have hated [set against] the congregation [company; assembly; multitude] of evil doers [wicked]; and will not sit [dwell; abide] with the wicked [ungodly; immoral; criminal; i.e. guilty of breaking the law].”

Story:

Lent Started on 2-17-2021 and I have never actively participated in lent nor have I attended a church that did, but I was inspired by the concept. I was inspired to give up something that was not edifying (instructive or informative in a way that improves the mind or character). I chose to put down social media for at least 40 days. I have felt the Lord leading me to do this all of 2020 and into 2021. I quit facebooking in the beginning of 2020 and felt a huge relief, but I continued to be active on twitter and instagram. I made my first twitter account back in 2012 and have been active on twitter in some capacity the entire time.

My experience on Twitter has changed alot since 2012. The political climate has heated up and poisoned the twitter I used to know. There are algorithms controlling what we see now and when we see it, Pornographic content is allowed but asking questions or sharing unpopular opinions are not, and bots now carry on conversations in mass. Some of the bots are so well developed I've seen people engage with them for an entire thread of conversation before they realised it wasn't an actual person.

Putting all of that aside, the thing I struggle with the most would have to be reading the thoughts and opinions of hundreds and even thousands of people within minutes. We were not meant to process the thoughts of so many people. It reminds me of the movie called Bruce Almighty (https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0315327/ Its about a guy who complains about God too often and then is given almighty powers to teach him how difficult it is to run the world. In the movie the main character starts hearing the prayers of everyone all at once coming into his human mind and he can’t handle it. Social media really feels like this to me. In the christian circles I was in on twitter denominations and theologies battled. In the gaming circles I was in platforms and playstyles battled. These social media platforms have turned more and more into wrestling matches and shout boxes, there's nothing “social “ about them anymore.

Social Media has felt more and more like a pair of handcuffs. Sapping me from any positivity I held back for myself. The noise from avatars on the internet creates a fog. It creates confusion. Which is no surprise to me as the devil is the author of confusion! More people are yelling at the world on the internet than ever before so I am looking forward to seeing how I feel not being part of it for 40 days!

One Apple

It only takes allowing one weed thought from a rando on social media to ruin your mind garden just as it take just one rotten apple to ruin the whole bunch

Article(s):

“One bad apple spoils the (whole) bunch”

“Yes. As they ripen, some fruits, like apples and pears, produce a gaseous hormone called ethylene, which is, among other things, a ripening agent. When you store fruits together, the ethylene each piece emits prods the others around it to ripen further, and vice versa. (Fun tip: Want to quickly ripen an avocado? Stick it in a paper bag with an apple overnight.)

The riper a piece of fruit is, the more ethylene it produces, and overripe fruit gives off even more ethylene, eventually leading to a concentration of the gas that’s enough to over ripen all the fruit. Given the right conditions and enough time, one apple can push all the fruit around it to ripen—and eventually rot.``

When we choose to make proactive choices in our life we should feel a change. When we put a stop to allowing our minds to be the dumping grounds for others we should feel a change. When we allow ourselves to seek affirmation from our Father in Heaven instead of Avatars on the internet, we should indeed feel a change, a change for the better.

  • I have decided to make a prayer group on the Pray Together App to help elevate each other in prayer.

  • “The Pray Together app is a prayer app that is unique to any prayer app in the app store. Created for closeness, this app will empower you to remember the prayer requests of your family and friends, members of your small group and ministries needs better than ever. With four primary functions prayer will become a discipline that you enjoy. See and experience the love and power of God through daily prayers that expand into daily devotionals, personal prayer cards that you can organize into decks, synchronized prayers that unify friends and family to pray at the same time and a prayer wall of answered prayers and prayer requests that reveal how amazing God is. This is the Pray Together app. Ad-free and completely private. Share with those who care and see the greatness of God.”

  • Android:

  • Apple:

  • I spent a lot of my time praying for those on my twitter timeline , so although my tweeting has stopped my praying shouldn't have too!

  • You can join my prayer group and most likely be the first one there by looking up Stilts in the group finder and joining.

  • I named it stilts because Stilts help lift us up just as we help lift others up in prayer!
